Homogeneous soil groups (GHS)

The homogeneous soil groups collect the soils identified in the detailed studies carried out in the Cauca river valley, in a total area of 216,765 hectares where the cultivation of sugar cane predominates. The following factors were taken into account for the grouping: (a) Textural family, (b) Soil moisture regime, (c) Effective depth of the soil.
A summary of the information is attached in the following tables:
- Main characteristics of homogeneous soil groups formed based on detailed soil studies carried out in the flat part of the Cauca river valley.
- Soils identified in detailed studies made in the flat part of the Cauca river valley and its respective homogeneous group.
Each of the soil groups is described below and some management practices are suggested in each case.
