Geographic Information Systems (GIS)

A GIS is a set of methods, tools and data that are designed to capture, store, analyze, transform and present geographic information applied to various purposes.

GIS are tools that have been used in the cane industry for several years, these have generated information for operational, administrative and research decisions.

To structure a GIS, programs, geographic data and people trained in the collection, storage, handling, analysis, presentation and output of all geographically geo-referenced information are required.

Day by day GIS acquire more importance as a support tool in decision-making, which is why priority is given to adequate maintenance of geographic data, the development of projects of interest to the end user, as well as knowledge of the different uses and benefits in each productive sector.
