The director general of Cenicaña, Alvaro Amaya Estévez, was recognized as 'Researcher Emeritus 2017', the highest category granted by Colciencias and the country to people who contribute to the development of Colombia from science.
For his career, scientific and academic production and contributions to science, technology and innovation in the country, Colciencias awarded the 'Emeritus Researcher 2016' award to Dr. Jorge Ignacio Victoria Kafure, director of the Cenicaña Varieties Program.
On June 13, the official made a tour of the Experimental Station and learned about the management of the Research Center for the sugarcane agro-industry.
