In 2007 it was detected in sugar cane planted for the production of panela in the municipality of Anapoima in Cundinamarca and in Oiba, Santander, and in the sugar zone located between Buga, Mediacanoa, Tuluá and Riofrío in the Valle del Cauca (Goméz, 2007); in 2011 its displacement to the municipalities of Bolívar and Bugalagrande had been confirmed.
