Required: Chemical engineering professional with a focus on bioprocesses applied to the circular economy

Purpose of the charge 

Support the management and execution of research and innovation projects focused on the valorization of agroindustrial byproducts through bioprocesses, with an emphasis on anaerobic digestion and related technologies.

The position seeks to generate applied technical knowledge that enables the design of sustainable, experimentally validated solutions with potential for adoption in sugar mills. This entails working with a practical approach, coordinating laboratory activities, field testing, rigorous data analysis, and monitoring relevant developments through technological surveillance.

A profile with technical judgment, analytical skills, laboratory and pilot-scale process management, and a willingness to collaborate in the development of alternatives that contribute to the diversification of the sector are required.

Requirements

  • University degree in Chemical Engineering, Biochemistry or related fields.
  • Minimum three (3) years of experience in research or technological development in bioprocesses or biological transformation of waste.
  • Experience in projects related to anaerobic digestion, biogas production, organic waste treatment, or recovery within the framework of the circular economy is desirable.
  • Experience in fuel alcohol production processes is desirable.
  • English level B2 or higher.
  • Driver's license to travel to sugar mills and sites of interest in areas of influence.

Required knowledge

  • Design and analysis of experiments.
  • Analysis and scaling of industrial processes (experience in bioprocesses is desirable).
  • Handling of statistical packages (R, Minitab).
  • Intermediate or advanced Excel.
  • English level B2 or higher.
  • Familiarity with physicochemical characterization tools (Desirable)

  • Effective technical communication (oral and written), to translate results into useful and actionable information at the technical and managerial levels.

General Information

  • Work hours: Monday to Friday from 7:00 am – 4:00 pm
  • Includes transportation en route from Cali or Palmira to the experimental station
