Required: Professional in chemical, biochemical or related engineering with a focus on energy recovery from by-products.

Purpose of the charge

Support the technical analysis of energy transformation routes for residual biomass by collecting, processing, and evaluating technical and experimental information on pretreatments, conversion processes, and energy efficiencies, in order to quantify and validate the potential for energy generation from biomass.

Requirements:

  • University degree in Chemical Engineering, Biochemistry or related fields.
  • Minimum three (3) years of experience in biomass conversion processes, bioprocesses, biogas or energy recovery of organic waste.
  • Knowledge of material and energy balances, conversion efficiency, and physicochemical characterization of biomasses.

Required knowledge:

  • Biomass-to-energy conversion processes, including biological and thermochemical routes.
  • Technology assessment and comparative analysis of energy conversion routes.
  • Advanced Excel skills and technical data analysis tools.
  • Search and analysis of information from primary and secondary sources (technology providers, technical literature, success stories, energy and biomass databases).
  • Drafting of technical reports, technology sheets and calculation reports.

Main functions of the position:

  • Identify and classify technologies for pretreatment, processing and transformation of residual biomass.
  • Estimate the useful energy potential by type of biomass and technology, applying conversion efficiencies.
  • Support the evaluation of the technical and operational feasibility of regional technology routes.
  • Document results in technical sheets and progress reports.

Key skills for the position:

  • Systems thinking, to integrate productive, energy and environmental variables.
  • Effective technical communication, oral and written.
  • Professional autonomy to advance in analysis and documentation tasks.
  • Collaborative work and a focus on results, aligned with applied research timelines.

General Information

  • Work hours: Monday to Friday from 7:00 am – 4:00 pm
  • Includes transportation en route from Cali or Palmira to the experimental station

Deadline: 31 for October, 2025
