General description:
The Colombian Sugar Cane Research Center seeks botanical biologist, Forest Engineer, Ecologist or Agroecologist to be linked to the Varieties Program, Entomology area, to the project “Restoration of the Amaime-Nima riverine corridor.” This position offers an excellent job and professional growth opportunity for the selected researcher. Said researcher will be part of a group of biologists, entomologists, agronomists, cartographers and workers in the social area, who have the objective of carrying out a multidisciplinary process to achieve environmental objectives.
Responsibilities:
- Generate the species baseline and determine the state of the vegetation
- Support the identification of areas with high conservation value (HCV)
- Propose an ecosystem restoration strategy and management plan contemplating objectives, goals, management tools and indicators for monitoring.
- Coordinate the design, development and implementation of the overall ecosystem restoration strategy
- Lead the nursery and planting work
- Routing alternative states and invasive species management
- Participate in the design and implementation of theoretical-practical workshops with inhabitants of the work area.
- Carry out implementation, follow-up and monitoring field sessions.
- Participate in the preparation of transfer material
- Prepare periodic progress reports.
- Participate in group meetings.
Requirements:
- Professional in botanical biology, forestry engineering, ecology or agroecology with research experience.
- Knowledge and/or experience in plant ecology and plant taxonomy (Tropical Dry Forest desirable).
- With experience in ecosystem restoration projects (minimum 3 years), also desirable in environmental management plans.
- Advanced level of Word, Power point, Excel (dynamic tables)
- Ability to analyze and interpret data.
- Have a driving license for private camper-type vehicles.
- Availability and time to move around the Cauca River Valley and to work extended hours.
- Resume which must include: Certificates of academic training according to the requested profile, professional experience with a summary of the activities in which you have participated, research or development or innovation projects in which you have participated, academic or scientific publications, registration ORCID or CvLac if you have them.
- Write a proposal that demonstrates knowledge in ecological restoration (maximum 1 page).

General terms of employment:
The employment contract will begin with a six-month trial period and will be renewed annually depending on performance and goals met. For renewal, the requirements established in the position and the Internal Work Regulations will be taken into account. CENICAÑA offers a competitive salary based on the applicant's experience. Work hours are from 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM
