The research work 'Distribution, behavior and management perspectives of Diatraea tabernella Dyar in sugar cane in the Cauca river valley', presented by Cenicaña at the 40th Congress of the Colombian Entomological Society, Socolen, was selected to compete for the Hernán Alcaráz Viecco National Entomology Prize, awarded by that organization.
The research work 'Distribution, behavior and management perspectives of Diatraea tabernella Dyar in sugar cane in the Cauca river valley ', presented by Cenicaña at the 40th Congress of the Colombian Entomological Society, Socolen, was selected to compete for the Hernán Alcaráz Viecco National Entomology Award, presented by that organization.
This work was carried out by Gerson D. Ramírez S, Germán A. Vargas, Luz A. Lastra, Álvaro T. Urresti, from the Entomology area of Cenicaña; and Amanda Villegas, from Ingenio Risaralda.
At the congress, which took place between July 10 and 12, the Center also presented the works' Bioecology and perspectives on the management of spittlebugs mahanarva bipars y Aeneolamia varies (Hemiptera: Cercopidae) '; 'Use of entomopathogens for the control of the sugarcane stem borer, Diatraea saccharalis, under laboratory and nursery conditions'; and 'Effect of climate and phenology of saccharum spp. and brachiaria spp. on Aeneolamia varies (F.) (Hemiptera: Cercopidae) in the Cauca river valley '.
