According to the climatological statistics and the current conditions of the tropical Pacific Ocean, deficient rains (70-80%) are expected compared to the usual values for the mid-year dry season.
International agencies specialized in the matter forecast for the last quarter of the year the formation of an El Niño phenomenon in the tropical Pacific Ocean, with a probability between 70% and 80%, without determining its intensity yet.
Under the effects of El Niño, the precipitation of the second rainy season of the year (October - November) is expected to be normal, that is, in the range between 80% and 120% with respect to the multiannual climatological average for the period. For the dry season of late 2014 and early 2015, little rains are expected in the region (50-80% of the average for this season).
