Cenicaña Open House 2025: a ticket to science

Cenicaña invites educational institutions to participate in a new edition of Casa Abierta: a ticket to science, which this year presents the following circuit: Water in the sugarcane agro-industry.

During this experience, students and teachers will be able to explore how water drives each stage of the production process of sugar cane and its derivatives, through interactive activities, scientific demonstrations and tours of laboratories or experimental plots.

Location: Colombian Sugarcane Research Center – Cenicaña, Experimental Campus (San Antonio de los Caballeros, Florida, Valle del Cauca).

Water use in sugarcane cultivation:

Theoretical and practical workshop on how water is cared for and used in the sugar cane agro-industry, from the upper part in the water basins to the flat area.

Visitors will also be able to learn about the technologies currently used in Colombian fields and the challenges in water management for the productive sector, aiming for a more sustainable and naturally fertile valley.

Terms and conditions

  • During the visit, students/visitors must be accompanied by a teacher or instructor.
  • The open house begins with those present at the time assigned to the group of visitors. Entry is not permitted before or after the assigned time. 
  • There is no cafeteria service. Visitors will receive a mid-day snack.
  • It is essential that, at least two days before the date of the visit, you send us a copy of the policy that covers the visitors, in case they are students, specifying periods and amounts of coverage.
  • The tours are scheduled according to our availability. A single tour can accommodate more than one group of visitors, as long as the maximum capacity of 40 people is not exceeded.
