“With the aim of protecting a natural reserve that would contribute to the protection, conservation and preservation of water and the environment in general, in 2016 the Pinares and Betulia farms were acquired. Biological and ecosystem characterization of the reserve

93% of the flora of the reserve is native. 198 species of plants were recorded. 8 threatened:

  • Wax palm (Ceroxylun Quindiuense)
  • Palm grinder (Chamaedorea pinnatifrons)
  • Fish tail (Chamaedorea linearis)
  • Black cedar (neotropical jungles)
  • Pink Cedar (mountain cedrela)
  • Orchid (Masdevalia trochilus)
  • Bromeliad (tillansia biflora)
  • Mountain curubo (Mixed passiflora)

120 species of birds were recorded. 3 of them threatened:

  • Red partridge (Odontophorus hyperythrus)
  • Guacharaca (Columbiana ortalis)
  • Scarlet-fronted parakeetpsittacara wagleri)
