Agronomic management guidelines for the CC 05-430 variety

The introduction of new varieties for the sugarcane agroindustrial sector in Colombia is an ongoing activity within the Cenicaña variety program. Each new variety must be considered a unique genotype, differing in morphological, architectural, and physiological aspects, resulting in variability in its phenotypic expression according to soil and climate conditions and agronomic management. Therefore, to maximize the genetic potential of each variety and close the gap between this and the productivity achieved in our fields, it is essential to adapt the crop's agronomic management to the specific characteristics of each variety.

In this context, Cenicaña's agronomy program, in collaboration with the sector's sugar mills, has worked to characterize and establish fundamental guidelines for the agronomic management of the most relevant varieties or those with growth potential in the coming years. By 2024, the CC 05-430 variety covered approximately 28.9% of the planted area. Therefore, this document presents the basic guidelines for agronomic management, which have been defined based on physiological knowledge of the variety, as well as weed management, nutrition, and ripening.
