Measurement of crystal size in materials of the crystallization process. LabCris | M1. Session I.

During the OnLine event, we will be talking about:

The fundamentals of sample preparation, image acquisition, and crystal size measurement.

  • Importance of the crystallography laboratory in the process of
    crystallization.
    • Impacts of crystal size distribution on process performance and behavior
    • Relevant aspects of sample preparation, image acquisition and crystal size measurement.

In this event we will address Module 1 (M1), Session I, of the virtual training: Fundamental aspects to ensure the performance of the
crystallization: Preparation of slurry and measurement of size of Cristal. (The short title of this training is Crystallography laboratory o LabCris).

 

Start date and time: 21 May 2020 | 2:30 pm. Cali, Colombia. (UTC -5)

Duration: 60 minutes (OnLine event) 

Dedication: In addition to the OnLine event, 30 minutes of individual participant work (at your own pace, in the time the participant has).

Addressed to: Technical and professional personnel involved in the crystallography area of ​​the sugarcane industry.

Work methodology to develop the M1 (virtual training):

The methodology is based on the exposition of contents of the facilitator during the OnLine event and a subsequent individual practice of the participant, and feedback information between both, which will be done through this Classroom platform.

  1. OnLine Presentation by the Facilitator:
    M1. Measurement of crystal size in materials from the crystallization process.
    M2. Key points to keep in mind when preparing slurry.
  2. After the OnLine event, the Participant individually develops the activities assigned by the Facilitator, with a response deadline (one week).
  3. After the response deadline, the Facilitator shares the responses of the activity through a new OnLine session. At this point, a virtual space is established to share more contents of the virtual training and clarify doubts if necessary.
  4. After solving the activities, the Participant answers a virtual evaluation that he receives in his email, with a response deadline (one week).
  5. If the Participant does not respond to the virtual evaluation, Cenicaña will not certify attendance at the OnLine event.

 

Learning objectives:

Upon completion of this training activities, participants will be able to:

  • Identify the importance of fundamental aspects prior to image acquisition and their influence on processing.
  • Use tools for measuring crystal size as a fundamental complement to ensure the performance of the crystallization station.
  • Apply proper slurry preparation techniques based on influencing factors in the wet milling process.
  • Properly use the crystal size characterization parameters.

Comment:

Attendance to the training will be certified if the participant responds to the virtual assessment before the end of the response deadline.

The use of a computer is required portable or desk to develop the individual work assigned for each activity. For the OnLine events where the contents of each module are presented, the Participant can connect from any device, including by cell phone (mobile phone).
