Extension and transfer strategies for sustainability

In order to fine-tune details before receiving the participants of the ISSCT pre-congress – XXXII Centennial Congress 2025, we carried out at the Experimental Station a preparatory essay focused on Cenicaña's extension and technology transfer strategies.

We did?

On the tour of the station dedicated to the Technical Cooperation and Technology Transfer Service (SCTT), the teams shared their journey, work approach, methodology and transfer products that will be presented to the pre-congress visitors. The SCTT articulates producers and researchers to accelerate the adoption of technologies in sugarcane and promote sustainable practices in the Colombian agroindustry.

Strategic programs of the SCTT

  • Technology Transfer Groups (TTG).
  • Integrates: management of the sustainable management of the productive unit.
  • Learning and Technical Assistance Program (PAT): training for technical assistants and producers, diagnosis of limiting factors per production unit, action plans and completion of the Sustainable Sugarcane Guide together with Integra.
  • Circle of Innovative Farmers.

Communication to accelerate adoption

We present a portfolio of technical communications with a hypermedia approach that connect young, middle-aged and older producers through multiple channels:

Digital: Espaitec's “Expert Responds”, website with Solutions for agroindustry and technical services, in addition to newsletters weekly and monthly with activities focused on technological adoption.

Physical materials: Popular series by topic with applicable technologies, books (manuals, guides, chapters), teaching materials (pocket booklets), brochures and banners.

Interactive connected by QR: experiences of augmented reality with best practices and Integra totem for sustainable management (e.g., grounding 0 x 0 to conserve moisture and reduce watering).

Number of attendees: +50 | Location: Cenicaña
