In several countries in Central and South America, there are different species of spittlebugs that attack sugar cane and pastures used for livestock farming. To control pest populations and prevent crop damage, farmers periodically apply biological products based on the fungus. Metarhikum anisopliae (Metsch.) Sorokin.
