GTT: integrated management of Diatraea spp. in sugarcane

This event brought together suppliers and field professionals of the Castilla Sugar Mill. The main objective was to raise awareness about the importance of biologic control to keep this pest below the economic damage threshold. The session included detailed training in the integrated management of Diatraea spp. Through Cenicaña, the sharing of information on sustainability and the Castilla Sugar Mill's biological corridor program, and a presentation on the current status of the pest, including monitoring methodologies and the release of biological control agents by the mill. The day culminated with a tour of the commercial exhibition of biological production companies, thus reinforcing sustainable control strategies.

GTT: New strategies for managing biological pest control in sugarcane

This training day brought together suppliers and field professionals of the Riopaila Sugar Mill, with the primary objective of raising awareness about the importance of biological control of Diatraea spp. to keep this pest below the economic damage threshold. Topics covered included comprehensive training on integrated pest management Diatraea spp. by Cenicaña, the dissemination of information on the status of borers at the Riopaila Sugar Mill, and the strategies for releasing biologicals. A highlight was the presentation by a commercial company on the Liberation of Trichogramma with drones, culminating with a tour of the commercial exhibition of biological production companies and the Entomology section of Cenicaña.

GTT: irrigation and renewable energy, technical and financial solutions

This day, which brought together suppliers of Ingenio Providencia, had the main objective of sharing key information on project financing, the current status of the water resource management, renewable energies and environmental regulations. The aim was to motivate farmers to invest and implement practices for greater irrigation efficiency, while also facilitating contact with commercial partners to promote the use of solar panels and from the GOTAS automated rain gauge network of Cenicaña. The central topics addressed were the water resource management and energy efficiency (achievements and challenges), solar irrigation as a strategic investment, available financing options, and environmental responsibility with its respective sanctions and benefits derived from its compliance.

Evaluation of foreign matter in the factory

This training was focused on the methodology for evaluating foreign matter components that enters the factory, had the participation of Quality/laboratory coordinators and operational staff responsible for the separation of components, and its main objective was to standardize the evaluation and classification of this material in accordance with current standards in the sugarcane agroindustry. To facilitate understanding and accelerate the learning process, the educational game CoMaEx (Foreign Matter Components), developed by Cenicaña. This initiative is essential for optimizing the quality of the production process and the efficiency of sugar manufacturing.

Irrigation School: introduction and general concepts

Cenicaña started a new cohort of its Irrigation SchoolThis inaugural session, of a theoretical nature, brought together monitors, supervisors, corporals and stewards of the María Luisa and Castilla sugar mills. The primary objective of this training is to improve the skills of the personnel involved in the work of gravity irrigation, by deepening fundamental concepts. This initiative ultimately seeks to ensure greater efficiency in the use of this vital resource for sugarcane cultivation.
