The Variety Catalogue is a first-hand tool for identifying varieties in the field, differentiating them according to their most important morphological characteristics.

This second edition includes 34 varieties named with the initials CC (Cenicaña Colombia), CCSP (Cenicaña Colombia, São Paulo, Brazil), Mex (Mexico), PR (Puerto Rico), RD (Dominican Republic) and V (Venezuela).

The catalogue is aimed at those who handle varieties on a daily basis in the field and presents, in addition to the morphological characteristics of each one, information about its parents, outstanding agronomic characteristics, health aspects in relation to diseases and insects of economic importance and behavior during experimentation in regional tests located in the main agroecological zones for sugarcane cultivation in the Cauca River Valley.

In relation to the behavior during the experiment, the agroecological zones are mentioned where the varieties showed the best results in sugarcane production (t/ha) and content (sucrose in sugarcane), in terms of the additional percentage obtained compared to the control varieties CP 57-603, MCZ 74-275 or CC 85-92.

The varieties were evaluated for their behavior against smut diseases (Ustilago scitaminea Sydow), rust (Puccinia melanocephala H. Sydow and P. Sydow), mosaic (sugarcane common mosaic virus, ScMV), leaf scald (Xabthomonas albilineans [Asby] Dowson), soca rickets (Leifsonia xyli subsp. xyli [Denis et al., 1984] Evtushenko et al, 2000) and yellow leaf syndrome (ScYLV). Likewise, in the face of insect attacks Diatraea spp. (Lepidoptera: Pyralidae) and yellow aphid Sypha falva (Homoptera: Aphididae).
