In-person event.
Goal
Strengthen the capacities of irrigation personnel and technicians in efficient water resource management, promoting practices that contribute to water conservation through flow measurement at irrigation intake, conveyance, and application points. This technology supports flow measurement with RBC channels, furrow irrigation, gravity irrigation, and window pipes. Its implementation contributes to improving water use efficiency in sugarcane cultivation.
Within the framework of the project "Strengthening and Connecting Ecological Connectivity Protection Corridors for Sustainable Water Resource Management in the Amaime River Basin," a theoretical and practical training session on gravity irrigation was held. The activity included general topics on irrigation, the dynamics of soil moisture gain and loss, the importance of water resources for the sugarcane agroindustry, and determining the applied volume per hectare. Subsequently, in the field, the installation and use of the RBC channel for measuring flow rates in furrows was taught, as well as the calculations necessary to determine the applied volume.
With the participation of technical and irrigation management personnel.
