The University of Nottingham (England), the company Drax Power, the Universidad del Valle and Cenicaña will sign an agreement sponsored by the Newton - Caldas Fund and the Royal Academy of Engineering (RAEng) to explore trends in the thermoenergetic use of biomass.

The agreement will establish an alliance between Colombia and the United Kingdom, in both industrial and academic aspects, for the transfer of information and experiences in the replacement of coal using different types of biomass.

Drax Power is a UK company that generates 7% of the total electricity required by that country and cogenerates with pellets made from wood, sunflower, peanut shells, or canola flour. In addition, it has a wood densification plant in the US to export to the UK and meet the requirements for reducing the use of coal.
