An innovation pilot is already underway with 35 sugarcane producers that seeks to facilitate monitoring of the adoption of technologies by sugarcane farmers.
As part of the open innovation program Bee-OpenCenicaña launched a challenge with the aim of improving the collection of agronomic data from sugarcane producers. The challenge is to find a solution that allows farmers to easily and systematically record information on agronomic tasks, plot by plot.
This solution will not only allow Cenicaña to more accurately track the adoption of technologies in the field, but will also provide farmers with key tools for managing their crops. In addition, the information collected will be used to offer personalized recommendations and design implementation routes for new technologies based on the analysis of their own data.
After a careful selection process, the startup Wseeds was the winner of the innovation challenge with its Agrochat tool. The winning startup receives the resources for experimentation, support and mentoring to carry out a pilot with 35 sugarcane producers, who joined the pilot starting on October 12, 2024. The pilot lasts 16 weeks, ending in December 2024. By that date, it is expected to have validated the ease of recording reliable information (field work) through voice notes, to have digitized the historical information of the participating farms and to have managed the information of each registered farm to monitor and analyze each type of sugarcane.
Agrochat, a tool accessible to everyone
Agrochat is a platform developed by Wseeds that uses a combination of innovative technologies such as blockchain, artificial intelligence and WhatsApp to facilitate crop management, including sugarcane cultivation.
Through WhatsApp, farmers can record key data about their crops, such as irrigation, fertilization, pest management, and other agronomic practices. This system offers an accessible and easy-to-use digital solution, even for those who are not familiar with advanced technological platforms.
For Cenicaña, Agrochat represents a tool that contributes to the detailed monitoring of the adoption of technologies in the sector, which facilitates management recommendations and the development of new technological solutions based on specific data from each sugarcane producer.
