The company Productos Biológicos Perkins and Cenicaña, under the auspices of Colciencias, signed a cooperative agreement to improve the production processes of biological controllers for sugarcane pests.

The company Productos Biológicos Perkins and Cenicaña, under the auspices of Colciencias, signed a cooperative agreement to improve the production processes of biological controllers for sugarcane pests.
One of the objectives of the alliance is to promote this alternative for pest management among farmers, since despite its advantages in agriculture, the lack of technological developments for the mass production of organisms prevents them from being available to the grower.
The agreement contemplates that Colciencias finances the hiring of a doctor to provide advisory services and conduct research at the Perkins company, while Cenicaña will be able to carry out large-scale evaluations of biological organisms through the participation of Perkins Ltda.
Active participation of Cenicaña in the XXVIII ISSCT Brazil 2013 Congress
During the XXVIII Congress of the International Sugar Cane Society, ISSCT, which took place last June in Sao Paulo, Brazil, Cenicaña had an active participation.
The Center was present at the Congress with 10 plenary presentations and 3 posters, on Agronomy, Varieties and Factory Processes.
Likewise, at the end of the event, the director of the Center's Factory Processes program, Nicolás Gil, was appointed member of the ISSCT executive committee for a period of six years; while the biotechnologist Jershon López, as a member of the Molecular Biology Committee.
