Furrow irrigation in socas should consider the options for arranging crop residues. The suggested options for applying irrigation in fields with crop residues are to save water without negatively affecting crop production.
The following illustrates the ways of applying furrow irrigation in sugar cane crops (templates and socas) considering the options for arranging the residues in the field and adapting the fundamentals of alternate furrow irrigation for water applications in times dry and in times with high probability of rain. Ways of applying irrigation are proposed for fields with spacings of 1.50 and 1.75 meters between rows and, in each case, the potential water savings are estimated.
