Learning objective:

At the end of the training participants will be able to:

• Identify and recognize the symptoms and signs of the most frequent sugarcane diseases in Colombia.
• Differentiate in sugarcane the symptoms due to diseases from those caused by genetic or physiological disorders, meteorological phenomena or by insects and Sooty Mold.
• Evaluate the incidence and severity of the main sugarcane diseases in Colombia.
• Take the sample of leaf tissue required for the diagnosis of diseases in a sugarcane crop in accordance with the procedures established in the Cenicaña Disease Diagnostic Service.
• Decide when to go to the Cenicaña Field Phytopathological Inspection Service and Laboratory and know how to do it.
• Request the Service of Multiplication and Propagation of Varieties in Cenicaña.
