Challenges associated with impurities in sugar processing
27 April 2022 | 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm
During the event we will talk about:
The impact of critical impurities on the efficiency of the sugar manufacturing process. Addressing the origin and concentration of these in the process materials, the main effects observed in the sector and some perspectives of the promising mitigation alternatives.
Who is it for:
- Technical and professional staff of sugar mills.
Objective:
- Enlighten attendees in the main critical impurities present in the process materials, effects associated with them and existing mitigation opportunities.
Content:
- Introductory framework: types of impurities, effect of the evolution of the harvest, critical impurities in the sector.
- State of the Colombian sugar industry in relation to the content of impurities.
- Effects on the manufacturing process of sugar production.
- Impacts on the efficiency of crystallization.
- Alternatives and initiatives for impact mitigation.
Facilitators:
Andrea Agudelo Cifuentes
Chemical engineer graduated from the University of Antioquia with 3 years
of experience in the agro-industrial sector of sugar cane. In
Cenicaña participates in research projects aimed at improving
on the efficiency of the crystallization stage and alternatives for the
reduction of energy consumption in the factory.
Lina Marcela Arevalo
Chemical Engineer and Master in Chemical Product Formulation.
With 8 years of experience in the agro-industrial sector of cane
sugar. In Cenicaña he leads research projects aimed at
develop strategies to increase the recovery of
sucrose in the factory and control undetermined losses in the factory.
