Strengthening technical capacities for administrative irrigation control (CAR)
The CAR training day was aimed at the operational and field team of the Pichucho GroupThe activity brought together 30 participants, including the operations manager and the personnel in charge of irrigation management.
During the day, attendees strengthened their knowledge on key topics for efficient water management in farming, such as:
- Automated and conventional rainfall measurement.
- Methodologies for measuring flow in open channels and irrigation fronts.
- Calculations for the application of irrigation sheets.
- The importance of applying irrigation at the right time to improve crop profitability and sustainability.
The training combined theoretical and practical sessions in the field, allowing participants to apply the concepts learned in real-life situations. These types of activities are essential for strengthen the capacities of rural human talent and ensure responsible and efficient use of water in agroindustry.

Planting habitats for birds in the sugarcane agro-landscape
At Hacienda Chambery, the event took place “Birds of the sugarcane agro-landscape of the Cauca River Valley”, a space for dialogue and learning about the biodiversity that inhabits sugarcane crops.
The event's main purpose was socialize sustainable agricultural practices that favor the presence of birds in agroecosystems, highlighting its fundamental role in the ecological balance and productivity of the crop.
Among the topics addressed were:
- 🌿 Crop management practices that allow the construction of bird-friendly habitats.
- 📘 Share the book “A sweet song: birds in the sugarcane”, which highlights the birdlife wealth of the Cauca River Valley.
- 🌎 The role of birds in agroecosystems: biological control, pollination, and biodiversity conservation.
With this type of events, the work of Cenicaña with its allies is evident to promote a more productive and biodiverse sugarcane agroindustry.

Efficient management of water resources in sugarcane cultivation – Incauca
On July 30th, in the facilities of Cenicaña, a training day was held aimed at Sugarcane growers in Incauca who irrigate their lands, with the aim of strengthening the practices of conscious and sustainable water management in the crop.
During the meeting, which was attended by 40 participants, key topics were addressed such as:
- Hydrological balance: Is there enough water available to cover crop demand?
- Hydric balance: What is the optimal time to start watering?
- Administrative control of irrigation: How much water is actually being applied?
- Mechanized and efficient irrigation: operation of mechanized sprinkler irrigation and field demonstration.
- GOTAS automated rain gauge network: real-time rainfall measurement.
- Status of sustainable water management in Incauca.
The day included practical and demonstrative spaces that allowed attendees to learn about Technologies and methodologies to optimize water use, as well as a reminder of the current environmental regulations that govern its use in the region.
With this type of activities, Incauca and Cenicaña reinforce their commitment to the water efficiency and sustainability, promoting practices that guarantee better use of the resource and the productivity of sugarcane cultivation.
