Handling and maintenance of the drip system

The main objective of this theoretical-practical training was to improve the interpretation of the information generated by the "gotas" application in the various trades personnel, supervisors and water resources assistants of the Riopaila Sugar Mill.

The day focused on the use of the application and on demonstrating the proper way to perform maintenance on the rain gauge, which is crucial for the accuracy of precipitation data, the optimization of water management and ensuring the correct functioning of the measurement infrastructure.

Benefits of intelligent systems in harvesters

With the aim of strengthening technical capabilities and promoting the correct use of intelligent/autonomous systems in harvesters, a technical training was carried out in Incauca, aimed at analysts and harvest leaders.

The activity, within the framework of the CATE II Macroproject, presented the results of technical and economic evaluations carried out in the Valle del Cauca region. The findings demonstrated that the correct adoption of these systems (such as Smart Cruise, Auto Turn o Field Cruise y SmartClean) directly impacts:

  • Cutting Quality
  • Operational Efficiency
  • Collection and Losses

This knowledge transfer contributes to operational efficiency, crop protection, and the environmental sustainability of the harvesting process.

Technical exchange meeting: adoption of 0x0 stranding

The main objective was to facilitate the exchange of technical information and practical experiences on agricultural waste management and sustainable practices. During the event, progress, results, and successful implementation cases of the 0x0 waste management strategy in various production contexts were presented to producers, technical advisors, and sugar mill staff.

The opportunities offered by this practice were discussed, as well as its impact on the microbial conservation of the soil, and efforts were made to raise awareness about the value of agricultural waste as a resource, promoting its effective use for soil health and sustainability.

Number of attendees: 76 | Location: Cenicaña

Technical strengthening: training for SENA instructors in advanced agricultural management

The main objective of the activity was to increase and unify the technical skills of SENA instructors in sugarcane management.

The topics covered included climate, agroecological zoning, agricultural mechanization, and irrigation management. This knowledge transfer is key to improving the trainers' understanding of basic crop management technologies, which promotes knowledge sharing and training for future professionals, directly impacting the productivity of the agricultural sector.

Number of attendees: 8 | Location: Cenicaña

Transfer and promotion of the SEF version 3.0 at Ingenio Sancarlos

The main objective of the activity was to encourage the adoption and standardize the technical concepts related to the use of the Fertilization Expert System (SEF version 3.0) among agronomy professionals, area managers, and field staff at the Sancarlos Sugar Mill. The workshop focused on the operational use of the tool and basic concepts of nutrition and fertilization.

The impact of this transfer is the facilitation of the accurate interpretation of soil analyses, optimizing fertilization decisions (based on productive potential and extraction by variety) to encourage the correct and rational use of fertilizers in sugarcane cultivation.

Number of attendees: 10 | Location: Sancarlos

Technical training: integrated management and identification of weeds

On November 14, 2025, a technical training in the San Felipe Production Unit (Tuluá), aimed at 13 people between field staff and administrators.

The main objective was to train and reinforce the technical knowledge of the attendees in the fundamental aspects of integrated weed management in sugarcane cultivation.

The session, aimed at field staff and administrators, focused on the recognition and correct identification of weeds, as well as the different types of applicable controls.

This activity aims to equip staff with the necessary tools for more efficient and technically sound weed management.

Number of Attendees: 13 | Location: San Felipe Production Unit

School of Irrigators (Session 2): Irrigation metrics and control

On November 14, 2025, the second theoretical session of the Irrigation School at the Carmelita Sugar Mill, addressed to 29 ropes and sprinklers.

The objective of the activity was to work with foremen and irrigators of the Carmelita Sugar Mill, in order to improve the skills of the personnel who operate the irrigation in the cultivation of sugar cane.

The main topics covered included water metrics, the concept of irrigation depth, precipitation measurement, and specific measurements for irrigation control.

The day included an in-class workshop to reinforce the understanding and practical application of these technical concepts.

Number of Attendees: 29 | Location: Ingenio Carmelita
