Colombian rusts, their diversity, importance and new records, Sep 25, 2020

During the Webinar, we will talk about:

  • Generalities of the Pucciniales Order, there will be a journey through the history of collectors and phytopathologists studying the Order. Then, we will talk about the diversity of this important group of plant pathogens in Colombia, and the most important recent records on plants of economic importance. The most recent works and projects and the biological and phytopathological importance of their results will be exposed. Finally, we will talk about the Mycological Museum-MMUNM of the National University of Colombia, Medellín, considered the largest collection of phytoparasitic fungi in the country.

This event is organized by the Colombian Association of Plant Pathology and Related Sciences - ascolfi.

Mauricio Salazar Yepes

Agronomist, from the National University of Colombia, Medellín headquarters. Master in Plant Pathology from the University of Caldas (Manizales) and Doctor from the Escola Nacional de Botânica (Rio de Janeiro) Brazil. Associate Professor at the National University of Colombia, Medellín headquarters. Since joining, he has taught courses on Plant Pathology, Phytoparasite Fungi, Mycology, Microbiology and Protection
Vegetable. Since 2005 Director and Curator of the Mycological Museum of the University
Nacional de Colombia headquarters Medellín (MMUNM). His specialty has been mushrooms
phytoparasites, especially those of the order Pucciniales ¨royas¨.
