Mentions and update in factory processes

Cenicaña mechanical engineer Diego Fernando Cobo received a mention for the best presentation made by young engineers during the WorkShop of the International Society of Sugarcane Technicians (ISSCT), in South Africa last August.

In this event and at the Congress of the South African Association of Sugar Technologists (Sasta), the professional presented the works 'Maintenance management in Colombian mills: a first approach' and 'From failure analysis to reliability in sugar mills'.

The chemical engineer from Cenicaña Juan Gabriel Rodríguez also participated with the investigation 'Increasing the performance of evaporation in Colombian mills'.

Cenicaña supports technical update on extraction efficiency

A total of 45 people, including operators, supervisors and maintenance executors of the Manuelita mill, participated in a technical update session on extraction efficiency in milling organized by Cenicaña, as part of a project aimed at reducing sucrose losses in bagasse.

Similar activities have been organized with personnel from the Central Tumaco and Pichichí sugar mills. The technical update with Manuelita staff was carried out on October 28 and 30 and November 4, 2014.

Cenicaña accompanies inspection for fly outbreak

Cenicaña accompanied the Health Department of Yotoco, Valle del Cauca, during a technical inspection of properties near the Panorama road affected by an outbreak of flies, and it was found that they were not species used in the biological control work of the sugar cane crops located in the area.

During the visit to these farms, it was identified that the fly causing the problem is the house fly, whose scientific name is Domestic musca, belonging to the Muscidae family, which rules out that it is one of the flies that are used in the biological control of sugar cane cultivation, which belong to the Taquinidae family.

Cenicaña also participated in a meeting in the Yotoco Municipal Council, in which the advances in the management of the outbreak were presented to the community and was used to educate attendees about the biological control of sugarcane and the types of insects which are used for this.
