Modality: University Internship/Practicum 6 months
Academic Requirements:
- Active Biology student (minimum 70% of the academic program approved).
- Basic knowledge in entomology, insect biology or invertebrate zoology.
- Desirable training or courses in applied statistics or ecology.
Functions and responsibilities:
- Assist in the review of insect samples from the sugarcane pest Diatraea and their controllers.
- Perform observations, counts, data recording and report preparation for the control of controllers (Trichogramma exiguum, Lydella minense, Billaea claripalpis, Cotesia flavipes) under quality control standards (parasitism, emergency, deformations).
- Conduct trials to breed species of Diatraea with diet and maintain the biological material in suitable conditions for experimentation or release.
- To contribute to the implementation of standardized protocols and good laboratory practices for quality control of
- Keep the work area tidy, following safety and bioethical guidelines.
